Spirituality and Stewardship

All that we have and offer comes from God. They are gifts made both to and from us, and are to be cared for responsibly and shared generously with the all those who come into our world. This is as true for individuals as it is for institutions, and at Mount Manresa Jesuit Retreat House, we believe in extending this belief toward all those who provide for the ongoing support and encouragement of our work.

In our work and in our lives, we are called on to be good stewards – of the home, of the land, of the nation, of the world and of the planet. But we also need to be reminded of those daily tasks or ordinary occurrences that do not play out in the grand scheme of life: picking up a piece of trash from the side walk, asking about the health of a neighbor, encouraging a struggling child or helping a frail senior off the train. These are each gestures of stewardship… timeless, profound and so very essential to our own spirituality.

Mount Manresa sees the important, life-affirming intersection of spirituality and stewardship in the many acts of individuals, families and institutions to provide gifts of wit, wisdom and wealth to the advancement of this valuable resource.
